Through a collaborative effort with Heifer International, Shepherd's Spring Outdoor Ministry Center offers a powerful global education experience through the Heifer Global Village.
The Heifer Global Village programs offer the extraordinary opportunity for people to experience some of the challenges of global hunger and poverty – and come away with a re-energized determination to be part of the solution.
Located just 1.5 hours from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Maryland and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Shepherd's Spring is Heifer's newest Heifer Global Village Site Sponsor. The Heifer International programs they offer include:
Cultural Connections - 4th Grade and Older (Four Hour Program)
A celebration of the cultures in which Heifer works, Cultural Connections engages participants through traditional meals, clothing, music, games and housing of a country, such as Guatemala.
Global Explorers – 5th-6th Grades (Two-Night Program)
By using maps and group cooperation skills, participants in the Global Explorers program obtain the basic items needed to prepare a meager meal and investigate the impact of personal choices and environmental issues that affect world hunger and Heifer's work around the globe.
Global Gateway - 6th Grade and Older (Single Night Program)
In many parts of the world, nothing – shelter, food, water or cooking fuel – can be taken for granted. During the over night, Global Gateway experience, participants prepare a meal with limited resources and sleep in simple housing. Watch "A Night In the Global Village" and learn what to expect during your stay.
