Going Barefoot to Help Others

Going without shoes can lead to real problems, like injuries, hookworm, podoconiosis and jiggers. A lack of shoes can keep children from going to school. Because of this, Heifer International employees will once again participate in TOMS “One Day Without Shoes” on Tuesday, to bring attention to and show solidarity with the millions of people who live their daily lives of hard work and harsh conditions shoeless.

Cycling for a Cause

This June, Algonquin resident Mike Ainsworth will embark on a 420-mile cycling trip along the greater part of the Grand Illinois Trail in an effort to educate people about Heifer International, a nonprofit that provides livestock, seeds and trees to global communities in need.
