Heifer wins ADDY for Book

"One World, One Family" Nets Heifer One World-Wide Award

Heifer International has won a prestigious national Gold ADDY for public service from the American Advertising Foundation for a book, One World, One Family, produced by Heifer's Communications Team.

The annual ADDY awards are the culmination of the world’s largest advertising competition.

The 56-page, soft-cover book, features photos by Darcy Kiefel of Boulder, Colo., who has traveled the world taking photos of Heifer recipients, alongside inspirational quotations from Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela and other world figures. It was designed by freelance graphic artist Nancy Ferrara of Little Rock. It was distributed to Heifer supporters as part of Heifer's ongoing effort to educate the public about solutions to world hunger and poverty.

The AAF is an advertising trade association that includes advertisers, agencies and media companies that comprise the nation's leading brands and corporations.

The AAF established the ADDY awards to honor excellence in advertising and “cultivate the highest creative standards in the industry,” the ad federation said.

Heifer’s creative team prevailed in competition with some of the world’s largest advertising and creative agencies.

“With over 60,000 entries and three separate judgings, the ADDY Awards are the world's largest advertising competition and arguably the toughest,” the federation’s Web site said.

One World, One Family was among a dozen Heifer Communications and Marketing projects to win ADDYs in local competition sponsored by the Arkansas Advertising Federation.

The book then joined entries from 210 AAF member clubs nationwide in 14 regional competitions. After winning another award at the regional level, the Heifer book proceeded to the national finals.

In addition to entries from the United States, for the first time this year, the ad federation also solicited entries from entrants outside the U.S. This year’s competition was the first conducted in cooperation with the International Advertising Federation.

Less than one percent of entries receive a national award. Heifer will receive the award at the AAF national conference June 12 in Dallas.

AAF's national network of 210 ad clubs and local ad federations are home to 50,000 advertising professionals. In addition, AAF connects industry with an academic base through its 260 college chapters.
