For the year 2013, International Women's Day was celebrated in projects in Kien Giang, Ben Tre, Hau Giang and Tra Vinh, engaging more than 200 project members in the celebrations that included games and entertainment.
Heifer Philippines held a workshop on Heifer's 12 Cornerstones for Just and Sustainable Development and witnessed the transformation of 100 families. Participants said the workshop was "intangible but a complete gift and will always be treasured in our hearts.”
Philippines residents lost nearly everything to Typhoon Bopha, but Heifer's resilient project participants are piecing their lives back together and look forward to a brighter future. World Ark Senior Writer Annie Bergman shares their story.
The Najaryans, a young, hard-working family of four, is living in need. Hmayak, 40, works as a milk processor in the Armenia. His monthly salary is a bit more than $100, not nearly enough to care for his family with two growing sons. As project participants, the family had their cow artificially inseminated in 2012; she has since given birth to two calves, giving the family hope for the future.
Flora Monga lives in Zambia. Two draft animals she received from Heifer International have significantly improved her land's production and now she rents them out to neighbors. Improved production made it necessary for the community to have a feed mill for processing their harvest, so this entrepreneur bought one.
