'Most Important Gift Catalog in the World' offers meaningful gift-giving options
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Nov. 28, 2011) – With Christmas fast approaching, keep your eyes on your mailbox for some gifts that may appear to be last minute, but most certainly are life changing. Heifer International's 2011 "Most Important Gift Catalog in the World" can give holiday cheer to a loved one at the same time it gives hope for a better life to someone half a world away.
Shop for llamas, sheep, tree seedlings, even honeybees via this one-stop shopping experience, where a holiday gift can help lift a family out of poverty and put them on the road to a better life. That's a much better gift than a tie, a sweater or a pair of socks.
A gift of one llama, for example, allowed Maria Condori-Antinapa and her husband Evaristo, of Bolivia, to support their family of four children. They use the wool for clothing and blankets, to keep and to sell, and even use the manure to fertilize their crops and as cooking fuel. With the money they are earning, they now have plans to purchase a water pump to ensure their children have clean water, and to pay their children's school fees.
A gift from you, in the name of your loved one, can do so much for a family in need. The gifts in the catalog not only help the family receiving it, they help a whole community. Participants Pass on the Gift of offspring and training to another new participant in their community, and the gift keeps on giving. What a feeling to know that your contribution can help not just one family, but an entire village, with the goal of wiping out hunger around the world.
Making a difference has never been so easy, and holiday gift giving never so meaningful.
