How to Donate Stock or Securities to Heifer International

Thank you for your interest in donating stock or securities to Heifer International. It is usually beneficial to give appreciated securities since you bypass any capital gains tax due had you sold them – and you receive a charitable deduction for their fair market value.

Your charitable deduction to Heifer International will be the median market value on the date of gift. The legal gift date for certificates that are mailed is the postmark date on the envelope. For securities wired into our account, the legal gift date is the day they are received in our account.

Please send Notification of Transfer to Heifer of a donation of stock or securities through one of the methods below. The Heifer International securities routing information will display once you complete the online Notification of Transfer Form or download the PDF.

Print, complete and mail the form to Heifer International, 1 World Ave, Little Rock, AR 72202 or fax the completed form to us at (501) 907-2805, when your broker makes the transfer so we can ensure that the securities have been received.

Certificate Transfer
If you have stock certificates in your possession, you may transfer them to US Trust by completing the back of each certificate as follows:

1. Enter name(s) as they appear on the face of the certification.

2.  Enter assignee: 

     Heifer Project International
     1 World Avenue
     Little Rock, AR 72202
    

3.  Enter number of shares being transferred.

4.  Write "US Trust Bank of America Private Wealth Management" as attorney to transfer funds to the named assignee (HPI).

5.  Obtain signature guarantee by signing in the presence of a bank or investment professional.

6.  Send certificates by U.S. Postal Service Certified Mail to:
